2 Week Countdown to ‘Pulse’

It’s a busy, productive and exciting start to our week here in the Deer Little Forest. It’s the two week countdown to the fabulous Trade Show ‘Pulse‘ and we’re already boxing everything up. I’ve asked the Deer Little Forest folk for some help and Bear, Rabbit and little blue dog are doing a grand job!

Hey, we know it’s a little early, but we’ve got some other exciting projects that we need to get our teeth, paws and claws stuck into!

One of which is an exhibition of my illustrations due to happen in May. It’s going to have a mix of collage pieces and it will be a great opportunity for me to show folks my original paper-cut work and the crafting that goes on behind each piece.

I’m hoping to get a couple of brand new pieces done too and I must admit they are quite big. Hmmmm, I’d probably get back to it.

After a nice cuppa though I think.

“Don’t forget to pack the snacks Bear!”

Jo Rose is a freelance illustrator and the creator of Deer Little Forest , an eco-friendly company that produces stationery and home décor made in the U.K. Jo lives with her husband Stu, their son Loki, and a little blue dog in New Forest, England.

Music and friendship brought Stu and I together. We first met as teenagers at a festival, and then again, many years later, while out listening to live music with mutual friends. Our shared love of art, music and general silliness led to two years of feeling-like-teenagers-again, and in 2010 we followed a dream and set off on a romantic road trip across California.

Our first morning on Venice Beach, coffee in hand, feet in the sand, watching dolphins playing in the sea, set the perfect scene for Stu’s proposal. It was a magical start to the most romantic road trip, and our love affair with California was set firmly in our hearts.

A Deer Little Update!

Hello everyone!

Just a tiny, little, bloggy update to show you a snippet of some new work being created this week in my cosy little studio, as I keep out of the wind and rain today.

Also, a little heads up to say, “check back here later” An exciting blog post should be here this evening and it’s something I’ve been really looking forward to.

Have a lovely Wednesday one and all!

Lucy Loves Deer Little Forest!

Well, it’s been a pretty busy couple of weeks, putting the final touches to the final designs for Pulse and getting everything ready such as stand design, price lists and packaging etc. Amongst the endless ‘to do’ lists and late nights, it was a real treat to have a wonderful review written about my ‘Deer Little Forest’ products on ‘Lucylovesya‘ blog! It was an utter pleasure sending  Lucy a package of Deer Little Forest goodies. I do love sending my products beautifully wrapped with all the hidden extra details to make my customers smile. I think it did the trick and Lucy’s blog post certainly made me smile.

Thank you Lucy X

Deer Little Forest – Product Review

Posted on April 4, 2013

A few weeks ago Jo Rose, creator and illustrator behind stationary and gift companyDeer Little Forest got in touch to ask if I would be interested in doing a product review of her new range. I had already seen some of Jo’s cards in Liberty London and Selfridges a little while ago, so felt honoured to be asked.

Jo’s inspiration is found in her surroundings of the New Forest – heathers, ferns, deer and ponies ! Her love of folklore, forests and Scandinavian design is clear to see in her combination of pencil illustration and paper cutting along with her vivid dream like imagination. Her work was originally discovered when she was selling her cards at Camden Market whilst studying Costume Design at the London College of Fashion. Her collections have evolved and now she is excited to be launching her brand new range of notebooks, invitations, wall stickers and wrapping paper.

When the box full of Deer Little Forest goodies arrived here, beautifully presented – my immediate observation was the uniqueness of Jo’s drawings, sense of fun along with the beautiful colours. I love the animal characters – this season Jo has added some Eastern flavour to the forest with Elephants in her bright signature colour palette. Aren’t they meant to be lucky ?

My girls love the wall stickers, we’ve stuck them above their dressing up box. They’re removable so you can peel off and re-apply if necessary. I will be using the invitations soon too, they’re very good quality. The cards are adorable, I’m torn whether to give them on Birthdays or keep and frame !

What I especially admire about Deer Little Forest is that all of their products and packaging are printed in the UK, onto recycled and FSC credited stock, the envelopes are all recycled and cello bags are biodegradable -as are the wall stickers. I mentioned in an older post about my distaste of all the land waste we produce in the world so this is a definite selling point for me. 100 % Eco friendly – yes please !

I would also like to add that as a blogger who receives tons of emails each week about products and brands – it’s always impressive when someone takes the time to actually represent their company in such a positive way by being so amiable and sending out a good range of products to review. It’s respectful and much appreciated.

Deer Little Forest will be at the London Trade Show, Pulse this May so if you’re visiting, be sure to pop by and say hi to Jo on stand CG5. I’m really looking forward to meeting her in person myself there. :) If you would like to see more products, hop on over to the website www.deerlittleforest.com –  you can also find them on facebook and Twitter – @jonegusrose.

I have received no payment for this post. Just a selection of lovely products to review.

A Crafty, Eco Easter

During the lovely, long Easter weekend, Loki and I had fun making his first Easter crafts. We decided to make an Easter crown from forest finds and recycled card, which I had left over from my Art Therapy work.

We also decided to celebrate the launch of my Deer Little Forest Eco-friendly, biodegradable, fabric wall stickers by asking friends and Facebook followers to create an Eco-Art piece, offering a free Deer Little Forest wall sticker as a prize.

Loki choose the winner and his love of everything chicken and duck related, helped him choose Rachel and Lucy’s Ec0, Easter eggs. Well done Lucy, your painting is lovely and what a great Easter, Eco idea! We hope you enjoy your wall stickers as much as Loki does X

Make sure to follow our facebook page for future Deer Little Forest offers and giveaways. X
